Krapina - Museum of Neanderthals - Krapina Thermal Spa

Krapina is a town renowned for its rich history and natural beauty. The Krapina Neanderthal Museum, located at the world-famous site of the Krapina prehistoric man, takes visitors on a journey through the past, revealing stories about the life of Neanderthals and their environment over 125,000 years ago. The museum is considered one of the most modern museums in the world, featuring the latest technological advancements along with various visual, olfactory, and other sensory experiences. It introduces the fascinating world of Neanderthals and also transports visitors back to the very beginning of the world, where they can enjoy a reconstruction of cosmic evolution and, for a moment, feel the immense power of the primeval origins.

Near Krapina, in a lush valley with four springs of healing thermal water, lies Krapina Thermal Spa, one of the most famous thermal spa resorts in Croatia. According to discovered Roman coins, Krapinske Toplice were known even in Roman times under the name "Aquae Vivae," or "living water." The first written record of the use of these thermal springs dates back to 1772, when there were three warm springs around which three baths were built in the following years.
Today, in addition to renowned specialized hospitals, Krapinske Toplice also features one of the largest and most modern water parks in Croatia.
